- "I think most theater-goers thought this play was about a family in slum housing that was going to move to another area, that was going to move to a home in what had been a segregated neighborhood. They were going to integrate this neighborhood and that was what it was about, but that isn't what this play is about. This play is about human dignity, love, values of parents that children try to reject, thinking they know better, but ultimately must accept because these values are rooted in truth.
